Mentors in Business (MIB)

The Career Management Centre (CMC) is recruiting volunteer mentors for the SFU Beedie Mentors in Business (MIB) program.  Business professionals from all functional areas who want to share their knowledge, experience and wisdom are paired with students from our Bachelor of Business Administration, Master of Business Administration, Management of Technology, Executive MBA and MSc Finance programs.  Whether a student is starting his career, or looking to take it to the next level, working with a mentor can make a world of difference. Students are eager to learn how to build effective business relationships and are keen to gain career guidance and advice.  As a mentor, you will also benefit, seeing your industry with fresh eyes, and honing your leadership and communication skills.
The six-month program runs January to June and June to December. As a mentor, your time commitment consists of approximately 10 - 15 hours including:

  • Mentor Orientation
  • Kick-off Breakfast
  • One-on-one mentor-mentee sessions (we recommend at least one 1-hour in-person meeting per month)
  • Mid-Point Networking Social
  • Closing Reception and Awards
